It's also highly recommended not to do any online shopping when you’re using a public computer or when you are using a public Wi-Fi network. It’s best to wait until you get home or somewhere with secure network. Alternatively, you can use your smartphone as a personal hotspot, which is safer than free Wi-Fi.
With the above in mind...
100% complete security does not really exist anywhere online or offline, so if you think your credit card might have been compromised in any way, it is important to act immediately and contact your credit card company. Silk FAQ'S
We love silk and hope that you will too. Check out all the great benefits of this beautiful fabric.
Is silk good for your hair?
Silk is said to keep your hair hydrated, encouraging stronger, less brittle hair.
The smooth surface of this beautiful, natural fabrication allows hair to glide, helping reduce tangling, frizz, and bed head.
Silk pillowcases and silk caps can assist your hair maintenance routine by nurturing your hair as you sleep. Whilst we can’t say that silk makes your hair grow faster, it possibly contributes to healthier, happier hair.
it is said that silk can benefit hair with less frizz, less breakage, tangles and knots and more hydration, natural oils, and smoother hair
• Silk does not conduct static electricity.
• Silk is a strong natural fibre which contains natural protein and 18 essential amino acids.
Silk vs. Cotton for your hair, what's the difference?
We all love cotton, it is the most used fabrication in bedding however it must be said that silk seems to be a very suitable fabrication for your hair and sleep routine due to its smooth, cool finish.
While cotton may absorb your hair's natural moisture and oils, silk locks in hydration and encourages your hair's natural movement because it is an all-natural clean surface to sleep on. Cotton on the other hand being very absorbent is said to collect dirt and oils, exposing you to them while you sleep and has also been shown to strip hair of natural oils and potentially dehydrate your hair.
Is satin or silk better to sleep on?
We’ll start by talking about the differences between silk and satin
Silk is a natural and strong fibre, and its appearance is shimmery compared to satin’s glossy surface and dull backing.
Satin is a weave and can be created by used silk or other materials which are synthetic fibres, satin is also a more affordable material than silk.
Both fabrics encourage healthy skin and hair while you sleep and either of these materials can boost your beauty and hair regime compared to other materials, because they both provide a smooth surface for your skin and hair to gently glide across with less frictio.
The big benefit of silk is that it’s a natural fibre it is naturally hypoallergenic, which keeps your sleep surface clear of allergens, dust mites and mould aka skin irritants that can cause breakouts, especially for those who have acne prone skin.
Does sleeping on silk help hair?
From our research and our own experiences... it sure does, silk keeps your hair hydrated, encouraging stronger, less brittle hair as it maintains hydration and encourages your hair's natural movement. It has been said that If you suffer from dry hair or even scalp irritation, silk will benefit you greatly.
Why is a silk pillowcase good for hair?
From research and personal experience, the benefits of a silk pillowcase are most noticeable for hair, because silk can help hair retain moisture from natural oils and reduce friction that could cause tangles and breakage.
Silk fibres are also said to be less absorbent than most other materials, keeping your hair’s moisture intact.
Do silk pillowcases prevent frizzy hair?
We can personally vouch for that..sure does, this luxurious fabric has worked wonders on hair (especially ours).
Silk allows your hair to glide over it without any friction meaning you may be less likely to wake up with frizzy hair and/ or tangles.
And if like us, you like to keep that blow out/ blow dry for longer, we have found that silk can help you do that.
Sleeping on silk is a secret that women with textured and curly hair have been using for years, allowing them to keep styles like braids and blow outs/ blow dries unspoiled for longer (without dreaded frizzzzzzz).
Can silk pillowcases prevent split ends?
Silk as a fabric (as a pillow or silk cap or scrunchie) is amazing in so many ways, the smooth texture of silk will help with tangles and frizz, but it can’t prevent hair breakage and damage altogether. You might look into using a deep conditioner and getting regular trims to prevent split ends. Hair specialists can assist with any qeries relating to hair damage.
Do silk pillowcases help curly hair?
Apparently, it does…it can help with a few hair concerns, we have read.
What makes silk pillowcases the best pillowcase for curly hair? The silky-smooth texture of a silk pillowcase cuts down on friction, which inevitably helps with hair frizz. We get it, you want the curl not the frizz!
Please note that hair specialists can assist with any qeries relating to hair texture, tips and styling.
Do silk pillowcases help with greasy hair?
Apparently so, it has been stated that silk pillowcases evidently help your hair control sebum production; (Sebum is an oily substance produced in the sebaceous glands) aka, the oily secretion known as ‘grease’
Try the swap, it has been siad that if you try a silk pillowcase, it may benefit your hair and also your skin.
Silk being a natural fibre has been said to have remarkable beauty benefits, not only keeping your hairstyle fresh but can apparently assist help with fine lines and wrinkles (we love a win-win)
Another point to mention...and let’s say it... we all love cotton however it has been said that cotton pillowcases can strip oils from your skin and can build up in its fibres (yep, apparently in your pillowcase) and that is the reason why hair can get extra oily overnight.
Do silk pillowcases make your hair staticky?
Silk is naturally anti-static, which means it could create less frizz than when using standard cotton pillowcases, because it is a material that allows hair to move and slide and glide around more smoothly.
Unlike cotton, Silk doesn’t wick moisture away from the hair which can result in less friction, potentially meaning less hair breakages.
Silk pillowcases can benefit your hair, why don’t you try it and see, we have and love it!
Are silk pillowcases good for skin?
Silk pillowcases have been dermatologically proven to absorb less moisture and cause less friction between your skin and fabric
For example, the constant rubbing on your skin (while sleeping) has been said to cause inflammation and breakouts, especially if you have sensitive skin.
Are silk pillowcases anti-aging?
We love silk and so do many others, we are not dermatologists but note that it has been said that silk pillowcases can help the appearance of skin, specifically making your skin look and feel more hydrated. Tick… that’s good!
A silk pillowcase has many benefits for your skin, you can read that many articles will advise that silk can help reduce puffiness in the morning and can help lessen those overnight face creases.
Do silk pillowcases stop wrinkles?
Again, we are not dermatologists but we have read multiple articles and it has been written that silk pillowcases can do that. Studies have shown that friction from tossing and turning in your sleep can cause creases in the skin (specifically the face), but a silky-smooth surface can help reduce that effect in the long run.
Most people normally sleep of their side/ or their face (side face) and often ‘face creases’ appear. Face crease can lessen and go away after you wake...so the benefit of silk is that it is said to lessen that effect when sleeping on silk.
Do silk pillowcases keep skin hydrated?
Glad you ask, yes it does…Silk’s super-smooth texture is less likely to absorb moisture from skin therefore keeping skin hydrated without removing valuable moisture. So, silk pillowcases are really great for anyone, especially those with dry skin and for use during winter months when skin dries out.
Do silk pillowcases help with acne?
Silk is a wonderful fabric that is said to not absorb as much moisture as cotton, but you shouldn’t expect it to clear up acne or prevent breakouts. So, the answer is not really..from what we have read. Please note we are not dermatologists.
If however you suffer from breakouts or adult acne, you’re better off speaking to a specialist and adopting an acne-clearing skincare treatment or program, as prescribed by a dermatologist (and try doing the almost-impossible-task of not touching your face!)...we know it’s difficult to do.
Are silk pillowcases naturally hypoallergenic?
Silk is naturally hypoallergenic however if you do suffer from allergies, you should consult your doctor, they know best.
You can also look at other bedding items like mattress protectors for your bed to block allergens and environmental irritants….(just some ideas)
We recommend that you should wash your bedding (regularly please) it makes a big difference (and really there is nothing like fresh sheets and pillowcases... and a newly made bed :) )
How to wash silk pillowcase?
It’s best to turn your silk pillowcase inside out and wash with a mild detergent. You can also use a laundry bag (normally a mesh enclosed bag) if you like.
Use a basic detergent (with low pH) such as washing soap because heavy chemicals (e.g., alkaline, bleach) can harden silk.
You can also purchase specialised silk specific detergents.
Can you wash silk pillowcase?
Yes, you can and here are a few methods but before you do-please always read your care instructions before washing your silk items.
It’s also important to use a gentle washing detergent specifically designed for washing silk or other delicate fabrics.
We recommend hand washing silk
o Dissolve your washing detergent in lukewarm water (max 30°C or 86°F).
o Add the item and gently swish it around, very lightly rubbing any stains.
o Gently squeeze the excess washing water out, perhaps by using a towel to blot dry (do not wring or scrunch as it will damage the fabric).
o Then rinse the item in a few changes of lukewarm water till all the soap residue has been removed. A tip we’ve been told…You can add a few tablespoons of distilled white vinegar to the rinsing (lukewarm) water to neutralise alkali traces and dissolve the residue from the soap.
o And finally, lay the item on a clean dry towel and gently blot the water out of the item by gently rolling it up in the towel.
If machine-washing silk
Whilst some care instructions state that silk items can be machine washed, we recommend that you hand wash silk. However, if you do wish to machine wash your silk garment, try this:
o It’s a good idea to use a wash bag (normally a mesh bag) so that it provides extra protection for your silk item
o Always use the delicate wash cycle (some machines now have a ‘silk’ programme).
o Try washing silk on its own and don’t mix colours
o Use the shortest / gentlest spin cycle and a slow spin speed.
Restoring your silk’s shine, sheen, or shimmer
Washable silk can lose its lustre and eventually become dull. You can restore some of the sheen by doing the following:
o Using a large bowl, add ¼ cup of white distilled vinegar to each 3.5 litres of lukewarm water.
o Completely submerge the item and swish it around so that it is completely soaked.
o Remove from the vinegar water and rinse a few times in clean lukewarm water.
o Place the item on a clean dry towel and gently press/ blot the water out of the fabric by rolling it up in the towel.
o Dry over a clothes rack (preferably with no pegs) as it can mark this precious fabric.
How often should you wash silk pillowcases?
We recommend that you wash your pillowcase quite often (personal opinion) We have read that some say every two days, (WOW) but this can be somewhat difficult…so we recommend - as often as you can, perhaps every week when you change your bed linen…You do change every week right? If not, that’s fine too…each to their own :)
How to remove stains from silk pillowcase?
There are a few methods that we have found and here’s our reference for cleaning stains:
• You can make your own stain remover form of a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar, or you can use lemon juice instead and then mix in a couple of tablespoons of lukewarm water.
• Test the solution on a small area of the silk item first (maybe the bottom, back corner) then if all is well, start dabbing the stain with a clean, white cloth. Please do not rub the stain.
• You can also try covering the stain with a layer of dry absorbent powder, such as talcum powder, baking soda or corn starch. This works well if the stain is oil-based. Personally, we’ve tried talcum powder (it works for us) mum told me to do it ages ago and I remember it was brilliant!
• So…then gently lay a clean, dry (preferably white) tea towel over the covered area and place a heavy-ish object on top to hold it down. Let it sit for a few hours.
• Brush/ flick the powder off and (hopefully!) the powder will have absorbed the stain. If any oil stain remains, repeat the process. It’s best to work with fresh stains, but this process can be attempted on any older marks as well.
• We recommend then steaming the item after the stain removal method, or dry clean your item to freshen it up and remove any remaining blemishes.
• Always use a trusted dry cleaner and make sure you tell them what caused the stain.
Can you put silk pillowcases in the dryer?
We suggest always read your care instructions. It’s not recommended to use a tumble dryer as dryers can damage the silk. High temperatures and heat, dull the silk fabric and may also shrink it. Silk can also be damaged against the dryer drum and can produce snags and/ or streaks...so take care.
Instead, we’ve investigated and found (from our research and trial) that it’s best to remove excess water by placing the wet garment on a white cotton towel then fold and gently blot. You can then hang the item on a clothes rack or hanger (whatever suits your item) to dry
Silk normally does not take long to dry, typically around an hour.
How to dry silk
Its best to hang silk items and allow them to air dry but avoid them being in direct sunlight as it can be damaging to silk fibres and fade the colour. Clothes racks and sometimes hangers are the best option as you can also avoid using pegs (and avoid any peg marks).
Please also note that it's recommended that if the item needs ironing, don’t dry it completely, leave it slightly damp for best results.
How to iron silk
It's recommended that you should only iron silk when and if required, as most wrinkles and creases can be removed/ fall out by hanging the item in the bathroom when you have a shower or bath due to the humidity helping those creases to drop out. If, however there are any stubborn creases and wrinkles they can be smoothed out with an iron by:
o Set the iron to cool (silk setting).
o Use a clean, soft, lint free and light-coloured cloth between the iron and the silk fabric.
o Turn the silk item inside-out and press whilst damp, noting that you should avoid wetting dry silk as it may cause ring marks.
o And finally, be careful as too much heat can cause this precious fabric to pucker and crumple, become dull or even burn! (Nooo……!).
Are silk pillowcases cool to sleep on?
Silk is in fact cool to sleep on, it is a light and breathable natural fabrication. It is incredibly soft and strong, and is a superb thermoregulator, (i.e., keeping you cool when warm and then warm when it is cool).
Where to buy real silk pillowcase?
From hairCAPsule™ of course, you’re here so why not have a look www.haircapsule.com
We use 100% Mulberry silk in 19 momme charmeuse weave silk, 5A grade.
Do silk pillowcases really make a difference?
We think so... Silk pillowcases can improve skin and hair hydration, prevent fine lines and wrinkles, and result in smoother, frizz-free hair every morning. We are not hairdressers nor dermatologists but lovers of this fabrication and the feeling and benefit that we have personally have experienced. There are so many re commendations for this fabrication, we love it and hope you do also.
So, in summary:
• It is said that silk does not conduct static electricity, sleeping on silk can help reduce hair damage.
• Silk is a strong natural fibre which contains natural protein and 18 essential amino acids. Additionally, it contains natural cellular albumen which speeds up the metabolism of skin cells.
• Silk can help your body maintain a comfortable, natural temperature because it is a breathable natural fabric, it is a temperature regulator. Silk helps the body regulate temperature by retaining heat in the cold and expelling excess heat in warmer weather.
• Silk is hypoallergenic; it doesn’t attract dust mites and is a natural fungal repellent.
• Silk is extremely smooth, and its soft texture has also been favourable to many with sensitive skin and skin conditions
• Silk does not draw moisture away from your skin and hair, unlike cotton) instead is said to boost moisture balance
Shower Cap FAQ's
Check out why you should wear a shower cap, we love them and what they do...hope you do too!
What do shower caps do?
In the most basic form, a shower CAP’s most basic function is to prevent wet hair, but it does so much more than that.
We think investing in a good, stylish, sustainable, and reusable shower cap is super important- after all, you may wear this wonderful item up to 5 or 6 times per week. Therefore, purchasing a high-quality shower CAP is key (our opinion)
So, hairCAPsule™ wants you to wear one that you LOVE… not one you wouldn’t be caught dead with …as the saying goes.
A shower cap is your friend in the shower- it helps save your precious locks and beautiful style and blowout/ blow dry from moisture.
Your friend aka Shower CAP (specifically the ‘SHIC’ shower CAP) also does more than protect your hair from water.
On the days when you do wash your hair, it can help you deep condition your hair- by keeping all that moisture in…see it works both ways!
How to wear a shower cap?
Firstly, you should prepare by scooping all your hair into a soft bun at the crown of your head (or just slightly lower down) … of course we cheekily recommend using your favourite hairCAPsule™ scrunchie to assist with keeping your hair in place. If you have shorter hair, tuck your hair in so that it is covered.
Place the flat, silicon-backed panel against the nape of your neck, so the stretchy elasticized sections are at the sides, then gently pull the flattering peaked, silicon backed panel up and over to the front to position at your forehead. We suggest not pulling it down too low.
For full coverage, tuck in any flyaway strands and position over your ears.
To remove, lift your hairCAPsule™ Shower CAP off from your forehead and pull away from your hair, up and over, gently going back in the direction in which you placed the cap over your hair...and let your beautiful hair be free.
Please also check out our video on our website in DISCOVER and HOW TO WEAR...and hairCAPsule™ YouTube.
Why use a shower cap?
Good question… there are a few good reasons, and we’ll start with:
Keeping your hair dry from moisture in the shower, bath, out in the rain, or by the pool/ beach etc) …well, we think our shower caps are beautiful, so you can wear them out without feeling embarrassed)
A shower cap is an indispensable item for hair care- it helps prevent dullness, breakage, frizz, and more ... Shower caps can make hair conditioning treatments work better by enCAPsulating your hair and the treatment in a CAPsule-like environment.
Shower caps help prolong that beautiful blow-out and hairstyle, it’s the protection for in-between wash days they do much more than simply prevent hair from becoming wet.
And our shower caps are sustainable, we have used recycled polyester made from recycled plastic bottles- our shower caps – our CAP’s don’t end their life here, we take them back from you after use and reincarnate them into another life also… that’s what hairCAPsule ™ shower CAPs do… You’re welcome!
How to wash a shower cap?
We recommend that you wipe your shower cap clean, inside, and out and hang dry only.
Give your shower cap a good wash every week if you can, keep the shower cap nice and dry after use also.
Can you put a shower cap in the washing machine?
To properly care for your shower cap, you should read the recommended instructions. We recommend using warm water and a gentle soap or detergent. While some shower caps are machine-washable we prefer to be cautious and treat our shower caps with care with a hand wash.
Do shower caps work?
Absolutely they work, and hairCAPsule™ shower caps look stylish also…what you say, look good and do the job! Yes, they do…
Our CAPs protect your hair from moisture and with our silicon inner rim, ensure no leaks get through. Shower CAPs do a wonderful job of obstructing humidity from messing up your hairstyle and taming frizz…so you don’t have to stress about wasting all that time, money, and effort you put into styling your hair.
A shower cap protects your hair and can even be used to make hair conditioning treatments work better.
Do shower caps keep hair dry?
Yes, they sure do… the sole purpose of a shower cap is to keep your hair dry and protected from moisture (water and steam)
A shower cap shower cap is so versatile, it not only keeps your hair dry but helps you protect and prolong that hairstyle that you paid a good amount of money for.
hairCAPsule ™ shower caps are made from recycled polyester- so you’re doing good for the planet also.
Our shower caps not only protect your hair from moisture but can also double up as a ’capsule’ for your conditioning treatments (which work better with a shower cap as it enCAPsulates the treatment) It really is wonderful!
Can I use a shower cap for swimming?
We can’t guarantee that a shower cap will keep your hair dry- while actually physically swimming but what it will do, is keep your hair protected against the harsh effects of the sun and those little annoying splashes (from other swimmers of course) Because let’s face it- you want to go in the water but you don’t want to get your hair wet …
I’m sure the internal conversation in your head would go something like this… “Oh no, it’s super-hot, I’d love to go for a swim but can’t get my hair wet, I just paid a lot of money to get this style/ blow-out, hmm, the money, the time, the waste… Agh!”
“Nope, I’m going to swim without dunking my hair”
Then….‘Ding’. Bright idea! “I’ll wear a shower cap- a hairCAPsule™ shower cap- they look super stylish and glam, yep I can rock that”.
Are shower caps reusable?
Yes absolutely! This is the whole basis of our brand; we want you to reuse this shower cap and then when you are done- you can send it to us, and we will recycle it for you- no waste here!
We believe that gone are the days of trying to re-use those flimsy plastic shower caps that lose their elasticity after each wash.
Welcome to a new age of shower CAPs redesigned, repurposed, and reincarnated.
This is THE stylish sustainable shower CAP which will keep your hair dry, keep you looking good without ruining your blowout/ blow dry or style.
How to store a shower cap after use?
We recommend hanging your shower cap, you can use the branded loop on the back of the cap to hang it – you can easily just hook the cap over a door hook, or any suitable location in your bathroom.
hairCAPsule™ have also provided you with a sustainable travel bag to store your shower cap- if ever on the go. We’d love you to take your ‘SHIC’ shower cap traveling- maybe take some pics and share the love with us. We wanted to give you this bag so that you take it everywhere and don’t need to use those disposable ones you normally find in various accommodations.
How to use a shower cap for babies and toddlers?
We proudly recommend our kids shower CAPs ‘The Minny’ Shower CAPsule- you can wear mum (mom) and bub caps…I can say we do, and my daughter loves hers…she now asks for it every time we don’t wash her hair…Cute huh?
so back to the instructions…
If your child has long hair, gather up their hair with a tie (a scrunchie from hairCAPsule™ would work :), then place your hands inside the shower cap and stretch it as much as you can to ensure that the cap can fits over your child’s head. Once gently placed over their head, tuck in stray hairs and ensure the cap covers their ears and is comfortable, please also make sure the back of the cap is as far back as possible (the nape), so their hair is totally covered.
Please always ensure you are watching your bub in the bath or shower.
What are shower caps made of?
hairCAPsule™ ‘Shic’ Shower caps are made of recycled polyester.
The materials come from re plastic bottles that are recycled which are then reprocessed into recycled polyester yarn and is then then woven into the fabric we use for our CAPS.
You’ll be pleased to know we test all our items with third party testing labs www.sgs.com and our CAPs are tested by a governing body, Control Union from the Netherlands, www.certifications.controlunion.com who provide us with certificates for Global Recycled Standards.

How to have a good hair day?
We don’t have all the answers but being good to yourself, being positive and happy, eating well and drinking lots of water could help. We all need to feel good on the inside to look good on the outside. Some ideas/ comments below:
• know yourself and know your hair
• Trim your hair, even if you are growing it out
• focus on how you wash your hair and with suitable products for YOUR hair. Don’t focus on how often
• If you don’t wash your hair often and hair is looking well, a little greasy- use dry shampoo (just a thought)
• Think of washing your hair as if it is a 'hair' beauty treatment/ spa
• Use accessories that can give you a new look and style (we have some that might be suitable)
• Manage frizzy hair with masks and/ or serums
Are scrunchies good for your hair?
We believe scrunchies are good for your hair, especially silk scrunchies, as they potentially cause less breakage than other hair ties.
A well-made scrunchie provides an extra layer of protection from the additional fabric. hairCAPsule™ scrunchies use a wider elastic internally and have ample stretch, our scrunchies are sewn to the perfect circumference – so you can wrap around your hair two or three times, maybe even four- depending on the thickness of your hair. Our scrunchies provide just the right amount of hold with potentially less headaches (caused by hair ties) or hair breakage and reduces hair getting tangled and knotted- due to its shiny, slippery surface. The 19mm mulberry silk allows the scrunchie to glide over your hair strands with less friction and potentially less breakage.
How to make dirty hair look good?
A few ideas for you:
• Braids/ Plaits- A simple braid or plait is a great way to cover-up dirty hair, it’s easy to do and looks super stylish
• High bun, neat bun, messy bun, hair accessory bun…
• High ponytail, lower ponytail, plaited ponytail, scrunchie ponytail
• Dry shampoo, amazing invention and one we love!
• Headband, silk scarves, silk hair cap or strategically placed hair clips
• Restyle- Use a blow dryer on your dry hair, then re-style it
• Wash and condition only the front and small section of the sides of your hair in the sink, then blow dry just those sections
• Baby powder…it works!
Is it good to let your hair get greasy?
We believe it’s best to consult a hair professional about specific hair matters, as they will give you the right advice. Because we can’t tell you if it’s good or bad.
But something to note, is that it’s not all bad…The oil (greasiness) serves a purpose that's good for you (we read)
We all produce sebum, the oily substance on our skin through our sebaceous glands. Sebum is said to improve the barrier of our skin and scalp, and therefore protects skin and scalp from damage and drying out…so that’s one good thing.
How to Keep your hair from Looking Greasy?
Some suggestions we have read up on:
• Wash less often (you can use a shower cap, or silk cap- we know a great brand :))
• Maybe only condition the ends
• Try using Baby Powder- funnily enough, this works (personal experience)
• Use dry shampoo and prolong your hairdo (we love dry shampoo)
• Choose your products wisely and with guidance from a hair professional
• Try not touching your hair constantly, we know that can be difficult.
• Try to avoid straightening hair- constantly
How to get good hair texture?
We can’t really tell you what will get you ‘good’ hair texture but there are a few home remedies that apparently can assist …I’m sure we have all tried a few in our time…right?
• Coconut Oil -Because of its moisturising properties, Coconut oil works as a natural conditioner, The vitamins and fatty acids in coconut oil potentially help nourish your scalp and penetrate the hair cuticle
• Olive Oil -because it shows that it can have a major moisturizing effect due to its primary chemical elements of oleic acid, palmitic acid, and squalene, which are all emollients (meaning softening qualities). Olive oil can potentially add softness and strengthen hair because it penetrates the hair shaft and preserves moisture and makes your hair nice and shiny from the oil smoothing the outer cuticle of the hair.
• Aloe vera gel is also full of nutrients like vitamins C, E, B-12, folic acid, and choline content that may help nourish and strengthen hair
• Eggs. Yep eggs! Egg yolk is rich in the vitamins which may possibly make hair more resistant to damage.
• And finally, you could try some vitamins- but see a qualified professional or pharmacist for over-the-counter vitamins and/ or suggestions.
How to change your hair texture?
Upon reading up on this we found the following:
Despite what you hear your, hair texture is difficult to change, your hair texture is in your DNA…of course as your life changes, aging, pregnancy, hormones, medication, health and diet and other biological and self-triggered factors, like chemical treatments, you experience changes to your hair texture- temporarily.
You can potentially contribute to your hair’s health by:
• Eating well and adding lots of nutrients and minerals to your diet.
• Protect your hair from UV rays and pollution
• Avoid washing your hair with hard water- if you can (hard water is water that has high mineral content) if you can that is
• Avoid using many hair styling products- try natural ones
• Use mild or herbal shampoo and conditioner.
• And try not to stress, your hair can be affected by your mental state.
How to make hair look good?
We have found there are a few ways to do this, but each of us has individual needs- it’s always best to consult a hair professional that can guide you on the right cut, colour style shampoos conditioners and treatments that would suit your hair.

How to make your hair look good all day?
Apart from the options above, some other ways are to style your hair, so it is less affected by stress and the elements for example- tying your hair up into a ponytail, a bun, or braids- there are numerous ways to style your hair, so it stays slick, stylish all day.
We also recommend using silk scrunchies (hairCAPsule™ silk scrunchies) or headbands or even styling your hair with a silk cap.
What is the Curly Girl Method?
The Curly Girl Method is an approach to hair care and was designed by author Lorraine Massey for natural hair which include coils, waves, and curls.
The Curly Girl Method (CGM) aims to treat naturally curly hair gently, by minimising damage to the hair cuticle by keeping it moisturised. Curly hair is more prone to dryness than straight hair and the method aims to accentuate rather than interfere with the hair's natural curl pattern.
The (CGM) encourages using cleansing conditioner which have no silicones, parabens, and sulphates (also called "conditioner washing" or "co-washing") instead of shampoo (which is used in many commercial conditioners and styling products) Basically, it means using conditioner to wash your hair instead of shampoo. Additionally, the use of a diffuser when blow-drying is essential BUT no combs, brushes or terry towelling is to be used, additionally CGM includes tips for using styling products.
There is also ’hair type’ system created by Andre Walker and the FIA, the system groups curly types from 2 to 4 and A to C (representing increasing tightness of the curl) with the following classifications:
• Type 1: representing a complete absence of curl (straight hair)
• Type 2: typically includes varying degrees of wavy hair
• Type 3: encompasses loose, spiralled curls
• Type 4 includes tighter curls, kinks, and coils
Sustainability FAQ’s
We are passionate about sustainability and hope that you love what we do and what we believe in.
Can you save much water by washing your hair less?
Doid you know- and we have been reading up on this...
When it comes to being kind to the planet, saving water and energy, you might think washing your hair doesn't really make an impact. But, if you spend just (3) three minutes less in the shower, or go one more day without washing your hair, you could help save over 22 litres (6 gallons) of water and reduce your impact on the environment.
Please think about that when you next use your shower CAP, it helps save water (in a small way) but something is better than nothing, right!?...and we love that!
